More than three quarters of Russians (81%) are aware of the threat of nuclear attack on the DPRK the US and South Korea, however, only 13% believe that the DPRK poses to Russia, the danger associated with the use of weapons of mass destruction.
Potential aggressors, the Russians believe the United States (50%) and the terrorist group al-Qaeda, according to published 16 may, the results of a survey conducted by VCIOM during the period from 10 to 11 may.
15% of respondents fear the threat from militants in the North Caucasus, 7% of respondents identified as potential aggressors, Britain and China, 6% Iran, 3% France and Pakistan, 2% – Israel.
That the appearance of nuclear weapons in the DPRK is a potential threat to Russia’s national interests, say 39%, while 52% disagree. If the weapons will be used, then, most likely, in the USA (so consider 51%) or South Korea (33%). Russia as a possible object of attack called for only 3%.
In relation to countries developing nuclear weapons, 41% of respondents offer to provide freedom of action, 38%, however, believe it necessary to isolate them from the world community to prevent a new escalation of nuclear weapons.
In connection with the threat of a nuclear conflict on the Korean Peninsula, the majority of Russians do not support any of the parties, and the participation of Russia are allowed only as an intermediary in the negotiations (73%), absolute non-interference act of 19%.
The poll was conducted among 1,200 respondents 18 years and older through telephone interviews. The statistical error does not exceed 3.5%.
