Next Wednesday, 22 November, the presidents of Russia, Turkey and Iran will meet in Sochi to discuss the political future of Syria and its leader Bashar al – Assad, wrote on Tuesday, November 21, the website of the newspaper «Vzglyad».
The newspaper reminds that the night before, Vladimir Putin, held in Sochi meeting with Bashar al-Assad. Negotiations lasted about four hours, reported the press Secretary of the Russian President, Dmitry Peskov.
During this meeting, Putin and Assad said that the military operation in Syria is coming to an end and they should engage in the political process.
«Until the full victory over terrorism is, of course, still very far away. But as for our joint work on the fight against terrorists in Syria, this military operation actually completed,» – leads edition of the words of the Russian leader.
During the negotiations, Putin has provided Assad, the defense Ministry and the General staff, which takes part in meeting on issues of military construction and the state armament programme. In response, Assad said that the Russian operation «helped to promote a political settlement in Syria.»
The leaders also discussed the principles of the Congress of the peoples of Syria to Sochi, to be held on 2 December. It is expected that it will take part more than 1000 people.
