A member of Knesset, Constantine Razvozov («Yesh Atid») initiated a draft law to improve the situation of older immigrants. Under this initiative should increase the amount of cash savings, affecting the right to receive social allowances to old-age benefits. Next Sunday, February 21, the law will be tabled before the Ministerial Committee on legislation.
Many elderly immigrants in Israel exist due to the old age benefits and social allowances to the subsistence minimum (alamat income). But these people are deprived of this allowance, if the amount of savings on their account exceeding the statutory limits, reminds the press service of «Yesh Atid».
Constantine Razvozov, commented on his bill: «the Majority of older immigrants who, for objective reasons, will not have time to «accumulate» a worthy Israeli pension. With great difficulty, they were able to secure a fairly reasonable standard of living and, putting aside every penny, it created a small savings in Bank accounts. But the absurdity of the situation lies in the fact that pensioners-immigrants lose their right to a Supplement to the retirement benefit to the subsistence minimum, if the monetary savings in their accounts exceed the relatively small amount designated by law . We are talking about the size limit amounts to four times the average monthly salary for yourself, and six times the average monthly salary for a married couple. Eventually, after working your whole life and having total work experience of almost 50 years, these people will not have the right to full social allowance. Monthly it will be calculated hundreds of shekels. My bill aims to change this situation and allow many older immigrants not to be afraid of cuts in social allowances, if the amount of their savings does not exceed ten times the average monthly salary for singles, and twelve times the average monthly salary for the couple.»
