Monday, October 23, the district court in Haifa rejected an appeal lodged by Sheikh Raed Salah, the leader of the Northern wing of the Islamic movement.
Salah tried to appeal the decision of the magistrates court in Haifa, resolved to remand until the end of the trial.
The district court ruled that the Sheikh is a danger to society. According to the court, the statements of Salah encourage terrorist attacks against authorities and security forces.
Sheikh was arrested on 15 August after he spoke at the funeral of three terrorists from Umm El Fahm, who attacked members of the Israeli security forces on the Temple mount, praising their actions and calling for «the war of al-Aqsa». The investigation against him was conducted in conjunction with the General security service (SHABAK) by order of the public Prosecutor’s office and under the supervision of the legal counsel.
Salah was charged with incitement to violence and terrorism, membership in a banned organization.
