Sunday, July 9, public advocacy released a report on conditions in prisons and detention centers in Israel.
According to the report, some prisoners are in extreme distress, having a space of 2-3 meters per person, sometimes less.
In some prisons is faulty for a long time the air conditioning system, and unacceptable sanitary and hygienic conditions.
The report says that health care in detention is difficult in prisons lacking basic items necessary for life and unless you absolutely need to practice the tying of prisoners.
In many prisons there is no current system of rehabilitation of prisoners. In particular, there is no sufficient number of social workers able to converse with detainees who do not speak Hebrew.
«Extreme overcrowding, the lack of acceptable sanitary and hygienic conditions are observed in many detention centres of Israel,» the report says.
The document sent to the head of the Supreme court Miriam Naor, justice Minister Ayelet shaked and Minister of internal security for Gilad Erdana, legal adviser to the government of Avihay Mandelblit, the head of the prisons Department Ophrah of Klinger.
