We will remind that in November of 2016, the Egyptian court of cassation quashed the sentence of life imprisonment for Mursi and ordered to re-examine the case of espionage of ex-President in favor of Hamas. Earlier, the court also canceled the death sentence against Morsi in the case of a mass escape of prisoners from prison in 2011 during anti-government protests that resulted in the overthrow of Hosni Mubarak, and in the case of a conspiracy to destabilize Egypt.
The court upheld the penalty of deprivation of liberty for a period of 20 years against Muhammad Mursi in the case of the deaths of demonstrators in 2012.
