Reuters: Robert Mugabe has agreed to step down as President of Zimbabwe

Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe, who ruled this impoverished African country for 37 years, agreed to resign – after he lost the post of leader of the ruling party, the African national Union of Zimbabwe—Patriotic front (ZANU-PF).

On the eve of thousands of people took to the streets of the capital of Zimbabwe Harare city to welcome the army that for several days now keeps under house arrest of President Robert Mugabe. They demanded the resignation of the 93-year-old President who ruled the country for 37 years. «On behalf of all the citizens we are talking of our army: «thank you so much for a peaceful intervention,» the BBC quoted the words of one of the protesters.

We will remind that on November 15, armed forces of Zimbabwe took control of the capital, Harare, and currently the country is ruled previously sent in resignation of Vice-President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
