According to the Lebanese newspaper «al-Akbar,» Israel and Hamas are closer than ever to implementation of the first phase of the deal to return the bodies of IDF soldiers Hadar Goldin and Oron Shaul, presumed dead, during the operation «Indestructible rock», as well as three Israeli civilians, Faith (Abraham) Mengistu, Hisham al-Sayyad and Jumaa Ibrahim Abu Ganim.

Haaretz: the law on the national character of the state would not define Israel as a «Jewish and democratic»

Jonathan Liss reported in «Haaretz» that the Ministerial Commission, which is preparing a bill on the national character of the state for consideration in the Knesset, articulated all points of the law, but has not yet come to an agreement on the status of the Arabic language and the wording of the democratic nature of the state. According to the journalist, Ministers are considering two options — to define Israel as a «Jewish state with a democratic regime» or to remove the definition of «democratic» and to add a paragraph which States that Israel is «a Jewish state in the spirit of the principles which had been announced to create the country».

«Israel a-Yom»: the Scandal of the Patriarchs

Shlomo Cesana, Erez Lin and Gideon Alon wrote in «Israel a-Yom» that the Agency of the United Nations educational, scientific and cultural organization (UNESCO) at the 41st summit of the organization in Krakow declared the Old city of Hebron (al-Khalil) and the Cave of the Patriarchs (Haram al-Ibrahimi) of the Palestinian cultural heritage site of worldwide importance. The decision was taken by 12 votes in favor and three votes against, and six abstentions. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that after the UNESCO declared the Old city of Hebron and the Cave of the Patriarchs Palestinian cultural heritage, it will reduce the amount transferred by Israel to the UN, one million dollars and send them to support projects for the preservation of Jewish heritage in Hebron.

«And Maariv-Shavua»: summit closed G20: 19 countries expect trump

Gideon Kotz writes in «and Maariv-Shavua», which all the participants of the summit of «Big twenty», except the President of the United States Donald trump reaffirmed their commitments in the framework of the Paris climate conference. Trump refused to support this decision, stating that it is necessary «to look the other way».
