At least fifty-three people were killed in a car accident that occurred on the night of Thursday in Ghana – on the stretch of highway that connects the cities of Tamale and Kumasi, and is located in 420 km to the North from the capital of Acre – where the truck carrying crates of tomatoes, collided with a passenger bus.
Police noted that the accident – one of the bloodiest tragedies that ever happened on the roads of this African country, writes on 18 February, the news Agency Reuters.
The chief of regional Department of police Maxwell Atangana told reporters that most of the victims died at the scene, more than 20 others were taken to hospitals with injuries of varying severity.
According to the preliminary version, the tragedy was caused by technical malfunction of the bus, the investigation of the case continues.
Recall that in Ghana, as in most other African countries, road accidents happen frequently. Because of the poor condition of the highway, outdated transport and negligent attitude of drivers to the rules of behavior on the roads.
