Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani for the first time after being elected to the post in 2013, on a tour to member countries of Council of cooperation of Persian Gulf States. He will visit Kuwait and Oman.
«Good-neighbourly relations and maintaining collective security in the Gulf is a priority of our foreign policy. We must strive for greater understanding between Sunnis and Shiites,» he said ahead of the visit.
Rouhani said that Sunnis and Shiites last hundreds of years they lived peacefully, and expressed confidence that good relations serve the interests of both branches of Islam.
