Thursday, 6 July, Russia blocked a draft UN security Council resolution condemning the recent launch of a ballistic missile by North Korea. This was reported by Reuters citing a diplomatic source.
The draft resolution was proposed by the U.S. and called for «serious measures» in response to the launch of an Intercontinental ballistic missile.
According to Reuters, the representatives of Russia blocked the resolution because they believe that the missile tested this week by North Korea, not Intercontinental.
On 4 July the authorities of the DPRK announced the successful test of its first Intercontinental ballistic missile, the Hwasong-14 with a range of 933 km and lofted trajectory 2802 kilometres. This information was confirmed by us intelligence. However, the Russian defense Ministry announced that the Korean missile was not up to the declared altitude and flew about 510 miles, is 933. Thus, the Russian military claim that North Korea tested medium-range missiles.
