The group of Russian artists who were supposed to take part in the events dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the peacekeeping operation in Transnistria, was denied entry to Moldova.
Artists Dmitriy Dunaev, Laysan Mingazova, Lydia Muzaleva, Irina Maslova and hero of the Soviet Union Vladimir Gasoyan was detained on Thursday, July 27, at the Chisinau airport, reports RIA Novosti.
According to the press service of border police of Moldova, the decision on refusal of entry into the country was made due to the fact that the artists «did not fulfill the conditions for the authorized border crossing», without specifying the purpose of the visit.
Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin called the representatives of the Moldovan leadership, which has refused entry to Russian actors, «a bunch of troublemakers». About this he wrote in his microblog in the social network Twitter.
«Bunch of troublemakers. Well, what to call them? Someone scared Artists! Because that’s what the threat of European integration! A very ugly story, the infamous» — quoted Deputy Chairman of the Russian government newspaper «Izvestia».
The President of Moldova, Igor Dodon, in turn, called the detention of Russian artists at the airport of Chisinau «another provocation aimed at disrupting efforts to restore relations with Russia», writes «Rossiyskaya Gazeta».
«Strongly condemn the arbitrary detention of citizens of Russia in Kishinev airport. See these actions as another provocation aimed at disrupting the recovery process of the Moldovan-Russian relations, which continue to develop successfully. Sincerely apologize to all visitors to our country who suffered similar actions at our airport. Tomorrow we will deal with each such case. The perpetrators of tyranny will be punished,» wrote an announcement on his page in Facebook.
