The Deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation from party «Fair Russia» Oleg Pakholkov has proposed to completely halt oil exports to save the economy from dependence on trade in raw materials.
Oleg Pakholkov noted that we need to «kick the oil habit» and develop other sectors of the economy, which should gradually stop exporting oil. He proposes to reduce exports by 20% within five years, thereby fulfilling obligations under existing contracts, while simultaneously reducing the share of commodity exports in the revenues of the country, reports NEWSru.com.
The MP also proposed to adopt a comprehensive program of state economic development.
First Deputy Chairman of state Duma Committee on economic policy Anatoly Karpov, the representative of «United Russia», said that the proposal Pakholkova will lead to a sharp drop in income, and this will require to reduce a large number of social programs. The government can’t allow this.
