The immigration service of Ukraine intends to deport ex-President of Georgia, former head of the Odessa regional state administration and leader of the «Movement of new forces» of Mikhail Saakashvili in Poland.
On Saturday, February 10, the politician said in an interview with the Georgian TV company «Rustavi-2».
Saakashvili, who is currently in Kiev, said that «the immigration service of Ukraine signed a package of documents» for his deportation to Poland. He stressed that «no matter what happens next, will continue a peaceful struggle for change of power» in Ukraine, reports TASS.
Recall, February 5, the Kiev court has rejected an appeal by Mikhail Saakashvili to the trial court’s decision that refused him refugee status or person who needs complementary protection, which creates the risk of deportation from the country.
On 9 February, the Minister of justice of Ukraine Pavel Petrenko said that the authorities do not see any legal obstacles for the extradition of Saakashvili in Georgia. According to him, the Agency is waiting for the completion of the extradition check for final decision in accordance with Ukrainian legislation and international norms.
The protection policy says that while the ongoing legal proceedings in its claims Kiev had no legal grounds for his extradition.
