The TV channel «al Arabiya» reported about the tightening of Turkey’s migration policy. Declaring a policy of open borders, Ankara closed the border with Syria and requires entry visas for those intending to enter Iraq. The Agency «Sana» reported the death of Anisa Mahluf – the widow of the President of Syria Hafez al-Assad and mother of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. She died on 87-m to year of life. The report notes that Anise, a native of Latakia province, married Assad in 1957, when he was a senior Lieutenant. The couple had five children. The Agency expresses its condolences to the Syrian people.
The Agency Maan reports that on the morning of 7 February at the Central bus station in Ashkelon was opened fire on a Palestinian who pounced with a knife to an Israeli soldier. Soldiers received injuries of moderate severity, a Palestinian was injured seriously.
Published in the London newspaper «al-Sharq al-Awsat» newspaper writes that after a decade of litigation the U.S. Department of defense had to declassify with 200 photographs depicting the torture of prisoners in American prisons in Iraq and Afghanistan. As the newspaper notes, they remind us of the Iraqi prison «Abu Ghraib». Human rights activists say that the pictures show that bullying was widespread and systematic.
