Scientists: anticoagulants reduce the half risk of developing dementia

Swedish scientists came to the conclusion that blood-thinning medications for 48 percent lower risk of dementia and strokes in people suffering from arrhythmia, reports The Guardian.

According to the Stockholm study, patients who received treatment for atrial fibrillation, rarely ill with dementia, if taken with anticoagulants.

We are talking about the study, which was attended by 444 thousand Swedish patients.

The study does not verify causation, but scientists insist that anticoagulants can prevent dementia, as the disease, according to Swedish researchers, can be also caused by blood clots in the brain.
