For the first time, Israeli high school students have the opportunity to study mathematics for five units online.
Online course presented by the Ministry of education, is designed for students from tenth to twelfth grade. It includes training material, videos and tasks for self-examination.
Course MOOC (massive open online course) was developed at the initiative of education Minister Naftali Bennett as part of the national program for advanced study in science and math in schools.
In the MoE noted that the course is created taking into account the examination requirements for graduates and is a perfect helper to prepare for revision and exams. This, in turn, relieves students of the need to resort to using private tutoring in preparation for exams.
The learning management system (LMS) will help the teacher to prepare the work plan in accordance with the needs of his students. The system also allows the teacher to break the students into groups in accordance with their level of knowledge to improve the effectiveness of training and monitor progress. The teacher can also as a home to ask the students to watch a tutorial video before the lesson in class and then spend time in the unclear moments.
In the MoE noted that the course can be helpful to young teachers, as it will allow them to see the work of more experienced colleagues.
