Saturday, July 22, Russia’s Ambassador to the U.S. Sergey Kislyak has completed his mission in Washington. The functions of the acting Russian representative in the United States will be performed by the Counsellor Denis Gonchar.
About the change says it is reported in Twitter of the Russian Embassy in the United States.
Earlier media reported that as the new Russian Ambassador in Washington was appointed Deputy foreign Minister of Russia Anatoly Antonov.
Sergey Kislyak held a post of the Russian Ambassador in the USA since 2008. In the last year his name has often surfaced in the context of suspicions of Russian interference in presidential elections in the United States. It turned out that Kislyak repeatedly met people from the entourage of the President of the United States Donald trump, in particular, former White house adviser on security issues, Michael Flynn, who in a meeting with Kislyak was dismissed, and U.S. attorney General Jeff sessions, later withdrew from the control of investigation of Russian interference in the American presidential election.
