Sunday, December 6, operatives of the police (LAHAV-433) have detained six suspects in a series of crimes related to copyright violations, and financial crimes, reported the press service of law enforcement agencies.
According to published information, the result of a lengthy investigation conducted in different countries, information was gathered that the suspects had created an Internet company that sold to season ticket holders outside of Israel products, which was the property of the companies YES, HOT and other.
According to the suspicions of the police, it was carried out with gross violation of copyright, but also trade rules and with the application of significant damage to companies and artists.
The investigation began after a complaint filed by representatives of the organization ZIRA defending the rights of online artists. The investigation was conducted by police, Tax administration and Directorate for prevention of money laundering and various law enforcement agencies abroad.
The investigation was accompanied by the economic Department of the public Prosecutor’s office.
The police suspects that a group of residents of the North have acquired decoders at the cable and satellite television. Having obtained the required equipment, the attackers created a company on the Internet and sold to ticket holders the right to view programs and channels.
The police assumes that the suspects had taken active steps to conceal illegal income.
After detention were searched in the suspect’s apartment, as well as in the various venues where the crimes were committed. During the searches were seized equipment and other evidence linking the detainees with crimes committed.
The suspect was charged of copyright infringement and violation of trade regulations, profit by unlawful means, fraud, tax offenses and money laundering.
December 6 suspects will appear before court, and police will ask to extend their detention.
