Former Minister of tourism and former Knesset member Stas Misezhnikov, a month in prison, appealed to the President for clemency.
According to the 10th Israeli TV channel, former tourism Minister, a former Knesset member from Yisrael Beiteinu’s Stas Misezhnikov, who is serving a sentence for defrauding the public trust, January 21, addressed to the President Reuven Rivlin with clemency. The request was also submitted to the Ministry of justice.
According to TV channel, the application was attached a letter written by his wife Misezhnikov. In this letter she asks the President to take into account all that was made by her husband for the benefit of the state, its contribution to the maintenance of immigration from Russia and work with young people. She also notes that her husband is not avoiding responsibility for violating the law, admitted his mistakes and is ready to return to normal life.
10 channel reported that, from the point of view of the prisons Department, to Misezhnikov no complaints since admission to prison.
Stas Misezhnikov, pleaded guilty to cheating the public trust and was sentenced to 15 months in prison and a fine of 70 thousand shekels.
On his page on Facebook before you go to jail, Misezhnikov said that about eight years ago, as Minister, he promoted the project of the international festival in Eilat. «The company that conducted this festival, looking for producers to work with, and I said, without a second thought and desire to fool anybody, a professional producer with extensive experience in execution of similar events in Eilat. It was my huge mistake,» wrote Stas Misezhnikov, noting that the act he had violated the law on «conflict of interest».
Punishment Stas Misezhnikov began serving 17 Dec 2017.
