On Friday, February 2, the Paris Prosecutor’s office has charged Tariq Ramadan, a Swiss theologian, an expert on Islam, of Egyptian origin. He is accused of two rapes, according to Le Parisien.

One of them, former Salafists, and now the feminist End of Ari, said that Tariq Ramadan raped her in 2012. Informed of Ari published a book in which he described a meeting in Switzerland with some guy, insulted and raped her. In 2017, she said that was referring to Tariq Ramadan.

The name of the second alleged victim Ramadan is not reported: we only know that this 40-year-old woman accuses him that in 2009 he taking advantage of her helplessness because of health status, raped her at a hotel in Lyon.

Himself Tariq Ramadan denies all accusations, claiming that in both cases, his relationships with women could be characterized as flirting, but sexual contact they did not enter.

As recalled by RIA Novosti, in November, Ramadan was the «hero» of the satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo, which published cartoons of Islam. After that the management told the publication about the death threats received by the editorial office.

Tariq Ramadan studied philosophy and French literature at the University of Geneva and Islamic jurisprudence in al-Azhar University in Cairo. He declared a persona non grata persona non grata in Tunisia, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Libya and Syria because of his «criticism of these undemocratic regimes that deny fundamental human rights».
