Syrian refugee sentenced in Hungary to seven years in prison

The Hungarian court sentenced the Syrian refugee Ahmed Hamid, convicted of illegally crossing the border, resisting police and of involvement in terrorist activities, to seven years imprisonment.

About it writes on Wednesday, March 14, the news Agency Reuters, citing MTI state news Agency of Hungary.

Hamid was one of the members of the group of refugees who illegally entered the territory of Hungary in September 2015. He spoke at a rally and using a loudspeaker to incite a mob to tear down the border crossing near the town of Szeged. The police were forced to subdue rioters with water cannons and tear gas.

Recall that in January this year the Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor Orban was interviewed by the German newspaper Bild, which called Muslim refugee «invaders.»

Viktor Orban has repeatedly become the object of harsh criticism, and his political views were called anti-Semitism. He, in particular, considers Hitler ally Miklos Horthy, the Regent of the Hungarian Kingdom, which carried out the laws against the Jews, «an outstanding statesman».

In the interview in question, Orban defended his position and explained why his country refuses to accept 1.300 Syrian refugees – according to the quota of the European Union. According to him, these people will not become part of the population, and organize a «parallel society».

«We do not believe these people Muslim refugees are Muslim invaders. The Syrian, who comes to Hungary should be avoided on the road four countries not as rich as Germany, but stable. But they didn’t want to stay there. It is economic migrants who are not fleeing from war, and want a better life,» says Orban.

«Multiculturalism is an illusion, we do not accept, and you will not be able to force us to do it. The people of Hungary against, and I can’t resist the will of the population in such important matters. We are talking about sovereignty and the cultural identity of our country. The Hungarians decide who can live on their land,» – with these words he ended the conversation.
