Teenagers in Europe prohibit use Facebook

The Committee on civil rights, justice and family Affairs (LIBE) of the European Union on 17 December should make the decision on amendments to the law on data protection, according to which adolescents under 16 years of age prohibit access online services without parental permission.

According to the amendment on raising the «age of consent» from 13 to 16, the processing of personal data of a child under 16 years of age must be carried out in accordance with the law and with the permission of parents or those who perform their function. In the case of adoption of the amendments, employers with employees under 16 years of age, will need to make sure that their parents have consented to the creation of accounts in Facebook, Instagram and other services.

Experts in the field of information technology, criticized the proposals of the authorities, noting that the change in age limit would deprive adolescents of many social and educational opportunities and not just not strengthen, but weaken their protection in the network, reports the BBC.
