The accident on the 1st track: six dead, three seriously injured patients in hospitals

As of the morning February 15, at the hospitals that left three seriously injured in the accident on the 1st track, where the night before 402 bus company «egged» crashed into standing on the side of the truck.

As a result of the accident killed six people. Called their names:
Jacob Khesin (27), from Jerusalem
Israel Weinberg (26), from Jerusalem
Khan Pasha Frenkel (23), from Jerusalem
Levi Yitzchak of Amadi (17), from Aneela
Leah Melamud (64), from Jerusalem
Aaron Mordechai Cohen (18), from Jerusalem

In the hospital «Asaf a-Rofe» was taken in critical condition a 20-year-old Sarah Springer, who received severe injuries in the accident.

In total, 12 people were injured. Victims were taken to Sheba hospital in tel a-Shomer, «Asaf a-Rofe» in Trifine, «Kaplan» in Rehovot, «Volfson» in Holon.

The accident occurred at about 18:20 on highway 1, near the Latrun junction. 402 bus traveling from Jerusalem to Bnei-Marriage, at high speed crashed into a parked on the side of the truck which trailer was partially on the roadway. To the scene were sent ambulances from Jerusalem and Beit Shemesh. But the ambulances’ve been traveling through the formed traffic jam.

The traffic police has started investigation of circumstances of accident. It is known that the truck was driven by 40-year-old Arab from East Jerusalem. He received minor injuries and arrested after interrogation.

According to preliminary investigation, the culprit of the accident was the bus driver, the negligence of which led to human victims.

After the accident that claimed the lives of six people, transport Minister Israel Katz has ordered the Director General of the Ministry of transport to speed up the process of installation of systems for the prevention of road accidents in vehicles. In Ministry of transport believe that the conditions on highway 1 were optimal, and the cause of the accident was the human factor. Yisrael Katz also believes that the installation of the system that informs the driver about the exit lanes, could have prevented the accident.
