The investigative Department of the Antimonopoly office and the police Department for combating organized crime (LAHAV-433) announced that the data of the investigation allow to suspect a cartel agreement between travel agencies sending students to Poland.
In the coming days, the investigation materials will be transferred to the legal Department of the competition authority and the public Prosecutor’s office.
The website «Israel a-Yom» indicates that in the course of the investigation, which lasted 2.5 years, the investigators came to the conclusion that the agencies have divided among themselves the market «school trips to Poland», and also set standard rates for travel, in order to prevent their decline.
Note that for many years the Ministry of education is trying to achieve lower prices for school trips to Poland. In 2014 among travel agencies was published a tender for the provision of comprehensive services related to travel.
According to the MoE, every year Poland is visited by about 30.000 students. The average price of a trip is 5,500 shekels.
