The President of Lebanon Michel Aoun said that while the Israeli occupation of Lebanese lands continues, and the Lebanese army is not strong enough to repel an aggressor on their own, group Hizbullah will not be disarmed.
The head of state said that the Arsenal group not directed against the Lebanese people and against the external aggressor. According to him, Hizbullah is an important part of the defensive potential of Lebanon.
These statements were made in interview to the Egyptian TV on the eve of the visit of Aoun to Egypt and Jordan. The President will hold talks with his Egyptian counterpart Abd al-Fattah al-Sisi and Jordan’s king Abdullah II.
Aun will also meet with the leadership of the League of Arab States, the Grand Imam of al-Azhar University Sheikh Ahmad al-Taib, the head of the Coptic Church Tawadros Third. The main issue on the agenda will be the Syrian crisis.
