As a result of a Taliban attack on airport in Kandahar in southern Afghanistan and a shootout between Taliban militants and Afghan security forces killed at least 50 people and almost 40 were injured. Among the killed children and women, reports The Telegraph.
The attack occurred on Tuesday evening, December 8th. About a dozen gunmen wearing the uniform of the Afghan military, entered the airport of Kandahar, on the territory of which there is a NATO base, and took hostages.
The Afghan army tried to release all buildings of the airport and destroy the fighters during the day. According to local media, the last militant was killed on Wednesday night.
Representatives of the NATO declare that among the contingent of NATO at the airport no one was hurt.
