The Australian Rugby club «devils of ISIS» (Isis Devils) will not be renamed because of the similarity with the acronym of the terrorist group ISIL (ISIS), according to British newspaper Independent.
The leadership of the League NRL tried to persuade the club to change its name.
The club representative Kevin Grant had hoped that the terrorist group will soon disappear. «And we wear that name a long time already»,- he stressed.
The team represents the district of ISIS, known for growing avocados and macadamia nuts.
The area of this district in the state of Queensland, is 1700 square kilometers. The main city is Childers (population about 7 thousand people).
