Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny, founder and head of the Fund of struggle against corruption (FBK) announced on his website that he intends to sue six lawsuits against Prosecutor General Yuri Chaika. The co-defendants in this case will be the TV channel «Rain», as well as the publication Slon, Vedomosti, Kommersant, RBC and the radio station «Echo of Moscow».
Navalny said that Moscow three times the courts refused to accept the claim of the BCF for the protection of honor and dignity, he was compelled to name as a defendant the publications mentioned above, since in this format, law enforcement will be more difficult to find a bureaucratic excuse to say no.
«We will take the decision of Plenum of the Supreme court, which stated that in cases concerning protection of honor and dignity would be the defendant and the media, and the author of the contested foreclosure. Jurisdiction in this case is determined by the plaintiff (us) independently. My apologies to respected media for the inconvenience, unfortunately, we have to make them formal by the defendants to compel the courts to accept our claims and, in General, to try to find a court willing to consider our claim,» – said in the published text.
According to Navalny, the media, who are co-defendants, will have access to the case materials even in case, if the court is hereby dismissed.
«After making a claim, we, at the request of the media, either eliminate them from the defendants, or leave, if they themselves want to be in the process. Of course, any material not claimed», explains the head of the FBC.
Recall that the reason for filing the lawsuit was the statement of the attorney General about the film FBK, published on 1 December this year and is dedicated to the business of the sons of the public Prosecutor of the Russian Federation and their relationship with criminal gangs. Chaika called the facts stated in the film, and falsely reported that the customer believes the investigation FBK the head of the Fund Hermitage Capital of William Browder.

A survey shows that about 40% of Russians heard about the investigation of the FBC. Navalny, meanwhile, has sent a statement asking to verify published information to the Prosecutor’s office of Switzerland, a resident of which supposedly is Artyom Chaika.
