The Central election Commission of Russia said that the presidential election will be appointed in December this year, therefore, the actions of opposition leader Alexei Navalny on the organization of staff to support it are outside the regulation of the law on elections, Interfax reported.
«Currently, no official electoral campaign for the elections of the President of the Russian Federation is not carried out. The next presidential elections to be held in March 2018. The decision on appointment of these elections must be made in December 2017. Thus, the official nomination of candidates will be possible from December this year, and only after the publication of the corresponding resolution of the Federation Council», — quotes Agency the message of the CEC.
«Given the above, the organization of staff to support a «candidate» Navalny is outside of the formal election campaign on presidential elections of the Russian Federation and outside regulation of the law on elections», — stated in the message.
Also, the CEC specifies that Navalny is convicted under part 3 of article 33, part 4 of article 160 of the criminal code to five years of imprisonment conditionally with a trial period of a year and five months, and the verdict entered into force. Therefore, according to the CEC, at present, the Bulk does not have «passive suffrage».
