On Tuesday, March 21, the chief of the General staff of the IDF Lieutenant General Gadi Gadi eizenkot spoke at the conference on security and strategy at the College of Netanya. The conference is the late head of the foreign intelligence service «Mossad» Meir Dagan.

In his speech, Gadi Gadi eizenkot commented on the recent events on the border with Syria. «The IDF will continue to defend the defense interests of Israel, and will not allow to increase the power of those who do not have, said Lieutenant General Gadi eizenkot. – We are completely faithful to the policy of non-interference in the developments in Syria, combining this with defending our interests. We are interested in the fact that it continued for many years.»

The Gadi eizenkot stressed that in recent years significantly increased the intensity of the intervention of the major powers in what is happening in the region. «The intervention of the United States and Russia in what is happening in Syria is a factor of the past two years, and it will influence the situation in the region and in the foreseeable future that will affect the activities of the IDF in the coming years.»

The chief of the General staff of the IDF added that «organization «Hezbollah» has lost in the war in Syria more than a thousand fighters and is in a deep financial crisis.»

Note that according to the Russian newspaper «Izvestia», last week, in Astana, Russia, Turkey and Iran have reached agreement on the withdrawal of Hizbullah from Syria after the civil war.

The Shiite Hizbullah is the hatred of the moderate Syrian opposition, and Turkey considers the group a terrorist. The publication notes that Iran is ready to agree to the withdrawal of Shiite fighters from Syria in exchange for security guarantees Shiites in Northern Syria.

The reason for this tractability is the group incurred heavy losses and the fact that after one and a half years, the Russian operation in Syria the regime of Bashar al-Assad has not threatened to fall.
