During his Saturday lectures Sephardic chief Rabbi of Israel Yitzhak Yosef, on the one hand, talked about respect for women, and on the other encouraged the soldiers ostentatiously to read, if they are forced to listen to a woman singing.
The website «Kikar Shabbat» writes that during his Saturday lectures chief Rabbi talked about the fact that in the religious community everything is done in order to pay tribute to women, not insult them. He also spoke about the difficult situation in which recently proved himself during the official ceremony.
«I was in the same place, where he was invited singer. What did I do? I took a small book in hand, I got glasses, pointedly lifted the book to the eyes to all around, including the Prime Minister and the President saw that I was not listening that I’m fully immersed in reading,» said Yitzhak Yosef. He then stated that he should follow the example of religious soldiers being forced to listen to the singing of women. «So what do you do? I need to get glasses, hold the book close to the eyes and show all kind, that we don’t hear anything. We are immersed in Torah.»
