The Commission for the promotion of the priority housing projects (ATMEL) has published a report on its activities in 2017.
In accordance with this document, last year the Commission had approved the construction of 41.800 housing units, a significant portion of them – in the framework of «the new settler» («Policy Le-Mistaken»). Of all projects approved developers are already sold land on 19.000 apartments, the press service of the Ministry of Finance.
Since its inception about three years ago, the Commission approved the construction of 105.000 housing units – a third of the total amount of approved construction projects during the relevant period.
«ATMEL significantly strengthened our ability to increase supply in the housing market and solving the housing crisis, said the Finance Minister Moshe Kahlon. Thanks of the Commission to promote the priority housing projects over the last two years we have adopted a much more construction than before, laying the Foundation for solving the current housing crisis and preventing its recurrence in the future. While ATMEL adheres to the highest standards of quality planning and shall consult with all necessary experts, however, works much faster. On the background of the effectiveness of the Commission, we plan to extend the term of its operation for another year, and has appealed to the Knesset for approval of the renewal».
As notes a press-service of the Ministry of Finance, ATMEL works on projects across the country, implementing the government program to stimulate construction in the settlements with high demand for housing in parallel with support for the peripheral areas. The Commission is trying to strike a balance between these goals, and the relationship it approved projects as follows: 57% are placed in areas of high demand, and 43% in urban periphery.
