Thursday, March 29, the district court in Haifa dismissed the state’s appeal on the decision of the court in the city be placed under house arrest Sheikh Raed Salah, leader of the Northern wing of the Islamic movement.
The court ruled that Salah will remain in custody until the end of the trial.
Sheikh was arrested on 15 August 2017 after he spoke at the funeral of three terrorists from Umm El Fahm, who attacked members of the Israeli security forces on the Temple mount, praising their actions and calling for «the war of al-Aqsa». The investigation against him was conducted in conjunction with the General security service (SHABAK) by order of the public Prosecutor’s office and under the supervision of the legal counsel.
Salah was charged with incitement to violence and terrorism, membership in a banned organization.
