On Friday, February 9, the U.S. court of Appeals ruled that the Arab Bank (Arab Bank) is not responsible for attacks on American citizens, according to Reuters.
The court persuaded the parties to compromise, in which the decision about the involvement of the Bank to the financing of terrorism was reversed, but the decision on the payment by the Bank of compensation to the appellants claim remained in force.
Recall, the lawsuit against Arab Bank was filed in 2014, victims and families of victims of 24 terrorist acts organized by the Palestinian group Hamas in Israel in the early 2000-ies. The plaintiffs claimed that the Bank was involved in financing Hamas.
According to the materials of the case, through the Bank were the funds intended to Finance terrorist activities through front companies and providing material support to Hamas leaders. The names of the recipients indicated error, to avoid exposure. Overall it was about $ 70 million dollars.
Arab Bank appealed, but was rejected. Then, the lawyers decided to sue in the next instance. But in the end they agreed with the plaintiffs on payment of compensation.
