The Dalai Lama XIV Tenzin gyamtsho, the spiritual leader of Tibetan Buddhists and winner of the Nobel peace prize and the congressional gold medal (the highest award of the USA), gave an interview to a leading Italian newspaper La Stampa, in which he called for the West to start negotiations with a terrorist group «Islamic state».
The Dalai Lama, who has previously argued that the enemy is defeated after became a friend, explained how to turn terrorists into friends: «Through dialogue. You must listen, understand, one way or another to show respect. Another way we have».
As an example, the correct position, he cited the attitudes towards refugees in Germany, which «was very generous: he took them and fed». The Dalai Lama is convinced that Islam is a religion of peace, and those who are intolerant, are harmful to the brethren and their own faith.
We will remind that recently the Dalai Lama claimed that the prayers will not stop terrorist attacks such as those that occurred in Paris and shocked the whole world. In an interview with German magazine DW he called terrorists is short-sighted, noting that this is why they become suicide bombers: «This problem was created by the people, and now ask God to solve it – this is illogical. God replied to this: solve this problem themselves, because that’s what you’ve created.»
The Huffington Post reminds that this statement resonates with the comment that the Dalai Lama did during his first visit to new York after the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. He said that compassion and peaceful dialogue will be a real antidote to terrorism, which «emanates from hatred and myopia».
