According to the new law passed by the Danish Parliament on Tuesday, January 26, the police will have the right to search workers upon arrival in the country and confiscate all valuables, value exceeding 10 thousand kroons, reports The Guardian.
With the confiscation of valuables will be paid the stay of migrants in the country, while the Danish authorities consider their petitions for refugee status.
In an earlier version of the bill also mentioned about the seizure of workers of gold and other valuables, however, according to the latest version of the law, engagement rings, watches and other items with a sentimental or domestic value, will not be confiscated.
According to the UN, the bill is just getting warmed up among the Danes fears and xenophobic attitudes.
Danish media had previously compared the bill with the treatment of Jews during the Holocaust, but a representative of the Danish government Knut Marcus has called the charges ridiculous and said that similar rules also apply to Danish citizens receiving benefits from the state.
