Wednesday, August 9, was held the seminar for scientists-returnees, whose goal was to familiarize the participants with various challenges in technology faced by the security system. The seminar was held within the framework of the Forum of scientists-repatriates, created by the joint efforts of the Ministry of defence and the Ministry of aliyah and integration.
The press service of the defense Ministry said that the Forum aims at maximizing research and application potential of scientists-returnees and increasing the defense capability of the state of Israel.
During the seminar representatives of the Ministry of defence has provided to new-immigrant scientists technological overview in various fields of security. Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman and Minister of aliyah and integration Landwehr attach great importance to the possibility of realization of potential of scientists-repatriates in the interests of security, due to which the Ministry of defence together with the Ministry of aliyah and integration plan to consolidate a mechanism of this kind of cooperation.
Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman: «Thanks to the joint efforts of the Ministry of defence and the Ministry of aliyah and integration, we were able to attract scientists-repatriates from former USSR countries to the work of the Department of MAFAT of the Ministry of defence in the field of scientific research and development. And I am very happy. We all know that many scientists and engineers who immigrated to Israel from former Soviet countries, carry vast knowledge and unique experience, and I’m glad we can provide them with the opportunity to apply this knowledge in the interests of safety of the state of Israel and its citizens. This project is another example of the realization of the Zionist idea.»
Minister of aliyah and integration Landwehr: «I welcome the initiative to hold a joint seminar between the Ministry of defence and the Ministry of aliyah and integration. During this workshop scientists-repatriates were able to get acquainted with the security system, which, in turn, understand the professional potential of scientists-repatriates and their capabilities. I’m always happy to see immigrants integrate into Israeli society and the Israeli industry».
Head of research and technological infrastructures in MAFAT, Dr. Moshe Goldberg: «Human capital is a matter of national importance. The Ministry of defence has decided to support the idea of cooperation with their colleagues from the Ministry of aliyah and integration in order to strengthen communication and to expand the dialogue with immigrants against the background of the implementation of the universal national goals for strengthening the security of the state of Israel. The purpose of this event is to increase the availability of the defence Ministry to new ideas through Department of MAFAT and increase the number of researchers collaborating with the Ministry of defense.»
