The head of the Knesset’s internal Affairs Deputy David Amsalem is developing a bill banning the criminal investigation against the Prime Minister, suspected of minor offences.
We are talking about offences punishable up to six months in prison
According to the Deputy of Amsalem, he will present the bill to the Knesset at the beginning of the winter session.
«In the last thirty years was not in Israel Prime Minister, who was busy with the police investigation, wrote a member of the Knesset Amsalem in his account on the social network facebook. Prime Minister is a very demanding position and the person holding it that decides matters of life and death. It constantly distracted the police interrogations».
The Deputy Amsalem added that the term of Prime Minister will not be counted for term limitation.
Recall that at the moment is checking suspicions against the Prime Minister. On 1 August the Tenth channel ITV announced that the police had interrogated several former employees of the office of the Prime Minister. According to published information, it is about checking the sources of financing of the campaign of «black PR» conducted by Netanyahu’s entourage in 2007 and directed against Ehud Barak, who was then a post of the head of the party «Avoda». Netanyahu was at that time Chairman of Likud and leader of the opposition. The head of his office was the current education Minister Naftali Bennett. The tenth channel reported that the police are looking into the source and legality of the funding of this campaign, which had cost 28 thousand British pounds in cash.
The Deputy Amsalem said that his bill is not associated with any particular case. «In our country at any given time, the police is secret or open an investigation against the Prime Minister,» he explained.
