A member of the Knesset Yoel (Constantine) Deliver («Yesh Atid») has introduced a bill that seeks to toughen the criminal punishment for attacks on IDF soldiers.
The bill provides for imprisonment up to seven years for attacks on military personnel or civilian who tries to help the injured soldier. Imprisonment up to 10 years – if the attack will apply a cold or firearms, or assault is committed by a group of persons (more than two people), and in the event of an attack on a soldier who is in the line of duty.
Lately there have been several attacks on troops in ultra-Orthodox neighborhoods of Jerusalem. On 2 June, police and soldiers MAGICIAN held in the ultra-Orthodox quarter of Jerusalem’s MEA Shearim operation to arrest radicals who attacked IDF soldiers.
During the operation, grew into riots, was detained 16 people, including two minors. Three police officers were injured, and they needed medical help.
On the same day was arrested 12 more ultra-Orthodox suspects in the attack on the military-haredim.
