The European court of human rights urgently imposed a ban on deportation from Russia of the correspondent «New newspaper» Ali Feruz, who on 2 August, a Moscow court has ordered to expel from the country in connection with violation of the regime of stay on the territory of the Russian Federation.

The ECHR has used the rule prohibiting the movement of the person pending the consideration of his complaint. Under this rule, the Strasbourg court has the right to impose such a ban in that case, if the applicant in the case of deportation can be caused «substantial and irreparable damage.»
Ali Feruza (the real name of the journalist Hudaberdi Nurmatov) detained on 1 August near the editorial office of «Novaya Gazeta» to «identification.» He showed police press card, but despite this, he was put in a machine and delivered in OVD «Basmannoe» and then Basmanny court of Moscow found the journalist guilty of violating the regime of stay in Russia, ordered him to pay a fine of five thousand rubles, and sentenced to stay in the center of temporary holding of foreign citizens.
The lawyer of the journalist Philip Shishov called the ruling illegal because his client «is in the process of the procedure of obtaining asylum.»
The journalist asked the Russian authorities to grant him temporary asylum, but the interior Ministry said that the granting of citizenship for no reason, forbidding him to travel to Europe.
Earlier, the chief editor of «Novaya Gazeta» Dmitry Muratov reported that in March this year, Feruza was detained at the request of Uzbekistan, where he had gone fleeing from the local authorities. Muratov stressed that Ali Feruz was born and studied in the Altai. His mother has Russian citizenship.
