Last Tuesday, February 9th, in Scottsdale, Texas, was arrested 84-year-old Catholic priest, John Feit, a suspect in the murder of 25-year-old teacher Irene Garza, beauty Queen of the state. This crime was committed in 1960, when Feith was 27 years old.
The arrest confirms the Sheriff of Maricopa County, wrote on Wednesday, 10 February, the website of the TV channel CBS.
The last time Irene saw in the Catholic Church of the sacred Heart, where the girl came to confession to father Feit. After this confession she didn’t come home, and her body was found five days later in an irrigation canal near the town Maccallan.
Forensic medical examination established that the girl was raped and strangled. In the same channel, the police found the projector to view slides that belonged to Faith, but also his glasses. Suspicions were aggravated by the fact that a month before this young priest was accused of the attempted rape of another parishioner, in connection with which he was sentenced to pay a fine of $ 500.
Half a century later, two residents of the state of Texas informed the district attorney that the faith confessed in murder of the girl, however, this evidence was insufficient for indictment.
At present, the suspect could face charges in the murder of Garza. What evidence led to this arrest, the media reported.
