Representatives of the countries of the European Union agreed to extend sanctions against Russia for another six months. The decision should enter into force on 21 December, said Reuters news Agency.
Sanctions were imposed against the annexation of the Crimean Peninsula and the Russian interference in the Ukrainian crisis. These measures affect a number of Russian citizens, and were directed against some companies in the energy, banking and defense sectors.
Simultaneously it became known that the European Commission reported on the implementation by Ukraine and by Georgia of all claims, allowing you to cancel the visa regime for these countries. European Commission President Jean-Paul Juncker said that also recommends to cancel the visa regime for Kosovo. When it will be done this recommendation is unclear.
Recall that in the framework of sanctions against Russia, the EU froze contacts on allaying the visa regime for citizens of the Russian Federation.
