A vote on the issue of sanctions against Russia will take place this Friday, 18 December, but on Wednesday it became known that all twenty-eight countries, comprising the EU, supported the extension of restrictions, and discussions are expected.

As previously reported, the foreign Ministers of the EU countries on 22 June had extended economic sanctions against Russia until 31 January 2016. The decision came into force on 23 June.
