The European court of justice made a decision to keep Hamas on list of terrorist groups. The Palestinian resistance movement were added to the list in 2001. The trial in this matter lasted for about three years. The decision is of a final nature.
In 2014, the lowest rung of the court took the decision to expel the group from the list on the basis that the decision on the recognition of Hamas as a terrorist organization was made on the basis of publications in the media, not their own thorough investigation of the EU.
Hamas accepted the decision of the court of the EU as a major foreign policy success. At the same time, representatives of the European Union granted the three-month period challenged the verdict in court.
27 March 2015, the Council of Europe decided that until a final decision Hamas will remain on the black list of the EU.
The current court session was held against the backdrop of a crisis in relations between Israel and the EU. During the visit to Budapest Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called the European policy towards Israel’s insane.
The EU delegation in Israel, said that he welcomes the decision by the Tribunal upholding the validity of the inclusion of Hamas on the black list. «We consider Hamas a terrorist group, and all measures restricting its activities remain in force,» the statement reads.
