Former President of Brazil, Luiz inácio Lula da Silva was found guilty of corruption and sentenced to imprisonment for a period of 9.5 years, reports the BBC.
According to the indictment, Lula da Silva and five others tried to buy the silence of former Director of Petrobras, testified about corruption. The ex-President denies all charges and says the trial is politically motivated.
Lula da Silva was President of Brazil from 2003 to 2010.
