Russian expert in the field of unmanned systems, chief editor of the site UAV.ru Denis Fedutinov at the request of the editorial NEWSru.co.il commented on a statement by the representative of the Ministry of defense of Ukraine that when committing sabotage to undermine the ammunition depot near Vinnitsa was applied to the UAV.
«The use of unmanned aerial vehicles as carriers of the payload is possible in principle. However, the parameters of target loads, especially drums, are limited and can represent, if we talk about serial products, 1-3 hand grenades,» said Fedutinov.
«It seems that for safe storage of munitions, including missile and bomb armament must be contained in specialized indoor environments. This should include ensuring the safety of storage, including from the point of view of possible external threats. In this respect, was in reality the Ukraine is unclear, making it difficult to assess», – said the expert.
Earlier, a spokesman for the main Directorate of development and support of the material support of the Armed forces of Ukraine Sergey Misyura on his page on the social network Facebook said that the fire at an ammunition depot in the village of Kalinovka of Vinnytsia region was the diversion of the use of unmanned aerial vehicles. He also reported on the arrest of alleged saboteurs, noting that, apparently, not arrested all those involved in this action.
The military Prosecutor’s office of Ukraine qualified the fire at an ammunition depot in Kalynivka as a diversion.
A major fire at an ammunition depot of the Armed forces of Ukraine began on Tuesday evening, September 26. The fire caused a series of explosions of ammunition.
According to the Ministry of defense of Ukraine, in the warehouse where the fire occurred, was stored 188 thousand tons of various ammunition, including missiles systems of volley fire «Smerch», «Uragan» and «Grad».
President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko took the decision in connection with the fire, call a meeting of the war Cabinet.
