Yemeni Shia and their ally, former President Ali Abdullah Saleh, failed to enlist the support of necessary number of deputies to create an alternative center of power – the Supreme political Council.
The opponents Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi had to enlist the support of 151 out of 301 MPs of the Yemeni Parliament. However, in the meeting, which was to decide on the formation of the Council, was attended by only 85 MPs.
On the eve of the convening of Parliament began fleeing deputies from the Houthis controlled the capital of Yemen – Sana’a. Many of them reported that the former President threatened to kill them if they did not participate in the meeting.
However, Hadi made threats against parliamentarians. According to him, the deputies voted for the creation of the Supreme political Council will be charged with treason and put on trial.
We recall that the negotiations on the settlement of the situation in Yemen, which took place in Kuwait and lasted several months, was a fiasco. After that, in the poorest country of the Arab world resumed a civil war.
