Sunday, July 30, the Finance Committee of the Knesset discussed the intentions of the group Teva to lay off 350 employees in Kfar Saba and Neot Hovav. MP Micky Rosenthal («Zionist camp») offered to postpone layoffs for three months. During this period, negotiations will be held with the committees of workers and the Israeli national trade Union Federation «the Histadrut».
Rosenthal also demanded to hold another meeting early next week to give clear answers to employees of the group who are worried for their jobs.
Deputy Director of Teva David Lustig promised to discuss with his superiors the suggestion of Rosenthal and to give an answer within three days.
About Teva’s intention to fire 350 employees, it became known on July 23. On the same day «Histadrut» announced the state of industrial conflict in the group.
In the press-service of «Histadrut» it was said that the dispute covers about 6,000 workers at the enterprises of Teva in Kfar Saba, Kiryat Shmona, Ashdod, Petah Tikva, Jerusalem, Netanya, industrial parks in modi’in and Neot Hovav.
