Former Iranian President Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, now a member of the Assembly of experts, has proposed to abolish the post of Supreme leader of the Islamic Republic (Rahbar), which caused a great scandal.
Akbar Rafsanjani, conflicting with the Supreme leader Ali Khamenei, called for abolition of the post of Rahbar, and to create instead of it the governing Council, reports Algemeiner.
The chief of the General staff of the armed forces of Iran, General Hassan firouzabadi condemned the initiative of former President and stressed that never in the history of «the army did not lead the Council».
According to the General, all the plots failed, and the enemy crossed to an old trick on the initiative of replacement of the Supreme leader on the Council. He stressed that the collective leadership will harm the country and undermine Iranian unity «in opposition to the US, Zionists and imperialists».
In the February 2016 elections to the Assembly of experts, which most likely will have to choose successor Ali Khamenei to the post of Supreme leader of Iran.
